Which mic should I get?
I'm looking into buying a proper microphone (medium price range ~$200-400) for my home studio. At the moment I only have an older AKG C900 which is nice for live but for the studio... not so much. The microphone will mainly be used for vocals and maybe for a couple acoustic instruments from time to time (acoustic guitar, double bass, hand drum).

Recording with a computer mic
So here's my situation, right now I'm running adobe audition 3 recording software on my computer and i'm simply using a cheap computer mic to record my tracks. The sound quality is not all that great. So is there another way that I could go about doing this without using a cheap computer mic and also, without getting a mixer.

Samson Drum Mics
Anyone know anything about them? I was looking into the Samson 8kit because it seems to have pretty good reviews but I'm not sure. Any suggestions for pieces of the set I should replace and maybe with what?

Mic placement for saxophones
I seem to get the best recorded saxophone sound by placing the microphone in line with the bell about a foot or two away. The lowest note on the saxophone always overloads the mic, however. I can help alleviate the problem by riding the fader, but I'd rather not. If I move the mic to the side, I lose a lot of sound quality.

Thoughts on my Microphone selection
I'm getting some new mics, right now i'm using Audix I-5's to mic my toms, an sm57 for the snare, and one sterling st55 for cymbals/overhead
i'm planning on getting new overheads.. i was thinking either Matched RODE Nt5's or one NT1 and possibly an additional AT ATM 450 for the high-hat

Has anyone ever used a Shure KSM27 Condenser Microphone?
anyone used one?
my bandmate is interested in buying one.
i believe he will use it for tracking vocals, maybe some drum overheads, and for acoustic instruments.
i read reviews, and so far it looks like a really solid microphone.
thanks in advance, guys.
How to disinfect a microphone?
I am fighting a head cold and wasn't going to sing today. But the choir wasn't coming in very strong on some parts, so the lead singer told me to suck it up and grab a mic. As I'm eating the 58 in the fourth song it occurs to me that I wouldn't want to be the next person to get this mic.
Any pointers on treating communal mics during cold season? Purell wipes? UV rays?
