ADVANCED! Acoustic guitar Micing techniques wanted
Hey guys, I'm about to start a session with an acoustic guitar musician (mostly strumming emo stuff). I'm looking to find some advanced Micing techniques. I have seen a few dvd's of instudio footage where the engineer has placed the following setup: pencil facing the sound hole, large diaphragm facing the neck, then two large diaphragms on each side of the guitar.
SE Z5600a or RODE NTK?
do i buy a SE Z5600a or a RODE NTK? I'm not sure as they are priced about the same and both sound really nice. Im thinking more towards the SE Z5600a as it also includes a nice shockmount where the RODE is optional. i plan to use mainly on vocals but probably a few other acoustic stuff now and again.

condenser mic ?
Hi,
I am using a traditional 3 mic set up for a drum kit, bass drum mic and 2 overheads. My question is with both at my disposal which will achieve the better drum sound 2 overhead large diaphram or small diaphragm condensers? and if possible why?
Thanks,
TK

Could use microphone advice from resident gurus.
I may have mentioned this before. but my studio is changing the way it does things from recording primarily vocals only, to recording all manners of bands and genres of music. Basically, anyone who walks in the door, I'll record them if they are not too "high maintenance"...because we need the money and what we were doing before wasnt really paing the bills.
Beyerdynamic
Hi!
Mic: Beyerdynamic M201TG
This microphone have a real low input before i connected to the pre-amp of my MOTU 828MKII? This is normal?
I put the gain all the way up and even then the level meters don’t show any signal in the Motu. The level meter of my software show something but is really low…

Which pre for Schoeps microphones?
Hi guys,
finally I made the jump and now I have two Schoeps (mk4 and mk21) for recording my next classical solo piano recital (Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, Wagner/Liszt).
I'll try the NOS technique using the mk4 on treble and mk21 on bass.
A/D conversion using my brand new MOTU Traveler.

What's the best mic setup for on-location interviews?
Before I run out and buy the wrong equipment, maybe you can point me in the right direction . . .
Neumann m150 / studer a827
