Hello all,

I'm looking to get some ambient recording coverage of a theatre space that I work with.

The space is small (125 persons capacity) and has a low metallic (!) ceiling (approx. 11-16 ft from floor) that slopes upwards away from the stage, parallel to the raked seating area.

I am slowly but surely getting more and more into home recording. I have recorded in big studios, middle of the road studios, and home studios, and I am beginning to enjoy simple, minimalistic studio techniques (i.e. 4 track cassette, 8 track reel to reel).

Im a freshmen college student and have recorded three songs with my friend literally in my dorm room. Haha. I like many others have the MXL 990/991 condenser mic pack that I got for under a $100. I made a quick myspace with the three songs I've recorded. I wanted some input on how the vocals sound?

I have been hearing a lot of positive things about the Heil microphones. Opinions on them. (PR20, PR30, PR40). I have never used them so my opinion is neutral but people are comparing them to Neumann Microphones which I find hard to believe for the price but I'm curious of there sonic value.

Okay, so I know there's nothing new about the NT4, but it's new to me.

So here's my quandary:

I'm feeding a MOTU Traveller (haha, yes, MOTU is something funny these days, but it serves my needs well) with a twinpack of Eurekas and an ISA220, but since my best mic is a C4000b, I think it's time to add a nice mic to the closet. I need it to excel on vocals (male and female) as well as acoustic guitar.

I'm interested in hearing what the more experienced think is happening here mic-wise. This is a picture taken from the album artwork of one of Ensemble Organum's latest releases, Le Chant des Templiers. It looks to me like two stereo mics (blumlein or MS?) with 2 LDC outriggers... would that be ususual? The CD sounds amazing.
