How would you allocate mics/pres?
Im recording 4/5 piece drums in a pretty nice room (23' X 16' by 10-14' vaulted ceiling). How would y'all recommend I allocate these mics/pres/dynamics to maximum effect (only 8 tracks at once):
Mics:
AKG D112
Audix i5
Audix D4
RODE NT4
2 X Crown CM700
4 X SM57
Neumann U89

In-line Condenser Mic High Pass filter
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there can help regarding adding a passive high pass filter circuit between my condenser mics and mobile pre-amp.
This setup is for collecting samples in the field - a pair of RODE NT5's, with a M-Audio MobilePre USB preamp supplying the phantom power. At this stage, I don't want to replace these (lack of funds).

Chromatic Harmonica mic session
I recently conducted a small mic comparison with several different chromatic harmonicas. The mics are kinda not what I would have liked to have but they'll do for now until I get my close-miked session underway. I would have loved to test out an SM7 & maybe some ribbons but oh well.

a good mic for live acoustic session
Can anyone recommend a good recording mic for live irish music session - the mic will be placed on the table and there will be about 4-5 musicians sitting around it - the idea will be to take the input of the mic into a mini-disc player - and later transfer to CD - first thing is will the quality be good enough? Second thing is, will the mic need a preamp?

question about close mic recording for distorted guitars...
I'm getting ready to record guitars and I have a potential problem. I'm not using a room mic but only 2 (MD421, and SM57) mics on the 4x12 cabinet right on the cones (one offset) and the other pointed at the center cone. My space isn't but so big, about 22x12, and we are currently rehearsing in the space as well.
MICs for 1on1 conversation in loud room?
I have a job that requires specific Mic requirements with cost factors. I have a decent Video Editing background, currently an AVID user, but VERY limited sound recording knowledge.
Any input as to what MICs I should look at getting or other forums I should post to for answers would be very appreciated.
Here is the situation:

Micing Mandolin
Hi,
I am tracking a mandolin. All I have is a RODE NT1A condensor with my PreSonus Eureka. Any advice as to best Micing practices? Any suggested eq sweet spots? I am thinking of using the conventional "neck meets the body" technique used with a acoustic guitar.
The song is a folk rock type sound.
Thanks
Rich O

Oktava mics for grand piano?
I mainly record classical chamber music (recitals in theatres and auditorium with very good acoustics) and I'm very proud of the results: by now I used a Neumann km183 spaced pair in A-B recording technique through a MOTU Traveler (preamp, AD converter and audio card all in a box) connected to an Apple powerbook (recording at 48KHz 24 bit).

inexpensive mic upgrade? [sample recording included :) ]
I play guitar and sing and like to record myself just for the hell of it. I use my laptop's mic, input jack with Nero Wave editor and I plugin the cheapest PC mic ever. No brand name and it crackles and rattles if you touch it while recording.
