AT2020 "Renowned" mic? Really?
Forums
I normally don't go out of my way to say anything negative about retailers... If I see something that is priced too high, I figure the best line of defense is to simply not purchase anything from them...

DIY Mic - where do I buy parts ?
Forums
Hi gang,
Some of you know I did try a kit of microphone-parts.com
I ran to a few problem with the kit. It didn't work and after a great help doing a dozen test I ordered another circuit without the transformer.
I build the new circuit and got the same results.. so I'm in need of another transformer.
It's a small 6.5 : 1 output transformer.

microphone to record a violin?
Forums
Ok so I play a lot and would love to record. Recording is also great for practice. However there are SO many different types of microphones from large diaphragm condensers to tube mics to ribbon mics and it gets overwhelming. I am looking for something that will sound closest to whatever Perlman uses. I have a fairly small room to record in that I could load with acoustic foam if it helps.

Recording without a mic stand
Forums
Tomorrow, I'm recording someone playing acoustic guitar, and I may not have access to a mic stand. Can I just hold the mic? I know my hand will get tired, but it's a really simple part for a four minute song that I need to record. Btw I'm using a RODE NT2-a tomorrow (not mine, I'm borrowing it).

3-D Printed, Arduino controlled, footswitch activated Ribbon Microphone element Crimper
Forums
Hello Everyone,
Just finished up another Instructable.
In my never ending quest for a high quality ribbon microphone in every studio locker (chicken in every pot), I designed a tool to help corrugate ribbons for ribbon microphones.
Cheap vocal microphone
Forums
I'm selling my RODE NT-USB, and I'd like to replace it with a proper XLR mic to go with my new audio interface. I was thinking along the lines of the RODE NT1 or the RODE NT2-a (probably out of those two I'd go for the RODE NT1).

What mics would you use?
Forums
Hey guys. New to this forum. My band is going to be demoing Drums (possibly "tracking" if it sounds good) for an ep here in a few weeks. Outboard gear is fine, close mics for drums are fine. Room is...bad. I'm aware of it, I'm doing what I can with it. Its a tall cement room. 20 ft tall. 15x15 room. Now the acoustics are not that bad. No slap back sounds no "ping" or anything.
