Ribbon Microphone Upgrade for MXL 990
Forums
Hello, I’m beginning my personal little crusade in the Ribbon Mic arena.
To start, I’ve created an Instructable, to upgrade an MXL 990 condenser mic with a ribbon element from http://www.diyribbonmic.com/parts
I created some 3D printed parts to hold the ribbon element and transformer.

Addressing dynamic microphone
Forums
Hi,
Reading the manual to AT BP40 I've noticed it is defined as "front addressing microphone with in-built pop filter", but in pretty much all youtube videos where people are using it, they address it from the side (approx. 45 degree angle). Is it just about "try what works best for you" or certain way is actually preferred? Thanks.

Cathedral Pipes Micro-Amp for Passive Mics
Forums
From Cathedral Pipes, the Durham Micro Amp Buffer, designed to add up to an additional 25db of clean, transparent gain for all passive microphones.
It uses typical 48v Phantom Power - found on most mic preamps - to add more db to low-output passive mics, which often require ramped-up gain levels to work at their optimum, and that many lower end preamps don't usually have available.

Need help in finding a mic.
Forums
Hey, I've already bought an action camera and I plan on using it but its sound recording quality isn't too good. I was wondering if anyone knows a microphone that is small not too expensive and has good sound quality. I wan't to be able to record the background noises too, like a waterfall or people talking in the background.

What kind of mic is this?
Forums
Hi everybody! I'm new to this site. I've been trying to figure out the type of microphones used in this video for months now! Any suggestions? Thank you! And in case the link doesn't work, the video is of Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande singing "Don't Dream It's Over" for the Happy Hippie Foundation. I do not need feedback on what you think about them as singers or individuals.
