EMI 806 mic amps (REDD style)
a friend of mine brought me in a couple of these funky 60's ex abbey road pre's today for restoration- theyre a bit similar to the redd47 line amp in construction, but the circuit looks different- ill be tracing out the schems for them over the next coupla weeks, will post them when done. they look well cool- little magic eye level meters, in a red cartridge, same size as the V-series.

M-Audio Luna microphone
I did a search and couldn't find a thread on this topic.
[url=http://www.m-audio…]
I was wondering if anybody has any experience with this microphone. It looks like it could have a good price/performance ratio. Thanks for your help.

Minimalist drum micing?
Anyone got any ideas on a minimal drum mic setup.
I'll be using a pair of C414's or TLM 103's as the overheads anyway, but only have a D114 kick mic and a pair of Shure dynamics left.
Not so minimal really, I suppose. Standard kit: two toms and a floor tom.

How to Mic a Tuba?
I am Engineering a date in a few days and have been informed it is a Dixie land / Folk artist and there will be a Tuba. I have worked with large and small Orchestras which have included the Tuba as part of the Brass of Horn section but have never recorded the Tuba as a soloist.

Take me mic shopping
I've got a pair of AKG 3000B's that I will only use for drum room mics. I don't know why I never thought to sell them and get a pair that I can use for more. What is a pair of mics I can get in the sub $500 each range. I thought about a pair of SP C3's, but I already have a C1. Also I was thinking I may like something a bit less hyped on top, but I'm not ruling them out either.

mics for poor newbie
what would all of you recommend as a $1000.00 beginers mic closet? there was an article in Recording a few years ago with that general idea. i think (can't find that issue now) the writer recomended a beyerdynamic m88 and a pair of octavia mc 012s. with the flood of low cost microphones in the last few years i'm wondering what might be appropriate now.
