Oktava ML52 ribbon mic
GC is blowin Oktava ML52's out at 200 bucks. Most people seem to be gawking at the 100 for MC012's, but I wanna know bout this one. Anyone used it? Is it worth having around cause it's a ribbon or is the money better in the bank saving for a royer? Does it have that ribbon "warmth" that is so often spoken of? I have a some condensers (rode, oktava, AT) and the regular dynamics.

Mics for recording grand piano
In the past I used a pair of AKG 414 EB mics to record piano. Interested in feedback re: other mics that would match up as well other than Neumann U87 ( too expensive )

Mics for piano, acoustic guitars & cello
Hey,
Is there anything in the $600- range worth looking at as far as small diaphragm condensers go apart from the Oktava MC-012 from The Sound Room and SP C4s? I was thinking used 451s, but I've heard they're quite too bright at times. I was also thinking about SM81s.
Instruments that will be recorded:

Also interested in whether noise reduction
is used when mixing down in analog at 30ips
1/2 inch tape.

how do you store your mics?
hi,
i'm new here.
just bought an AKG 535EB small diaphram condenser and was wondering whether leaving it attached to a stand in my room would be ok - does it shorten it's lifespan in any way or will recording quality be affected by dust settling in? should i keep it in the box? will leaving the sponge/wind shield on have any negative effects?

Mic 5.1 to camera for demo
I know it sounds bazzare but Im trying to Mic 5.1 to a camcorder for a 5.1 demo.
So my 5.1 is happening in the room. Now I place 2 omni KMs on a stereo bar in an attempt to get a simulated 5.1 response.
Would 1 omni be better?

Micing a Harp
I'm wondering what microphones and Micing technique would be best for a harp. If anyone has experience in harp recordings I'd like to know how they did it.
Also Micing a harp for live sound.
