What do you think AKG C1000 mics. .
Hey All,
I recently got a good deal on purchasing a factory matched pair of AKG C1000 mics. I'd love to get everyone's opinion on the pro's AND con's of this mic, BEFORE I open the box. I read that they can sound good as drum overheads OR acoustic guitars, stringed instruments. What do you think?

A Better Live Vocal Mic
I'm thinking of moving up to a better vocal mic for some live acoustic recordings for an artist in the near future. I've been tossing around a lot of ideas - but wanted to ask around here to get opinions. I've been using an SM58 for the vocals.
Here is a clip of a show I recorded for him last year - it was with the 58 on the vocals.

Are Microtech Gefell mics good ?
For some time now I've been looking at the MG 940 condenser mic and was wondering if it was worth making an investment. I know the companys history is tied to Mr. Neumann (Neumann microphones), so I figured the quality of their products would be somewhat top-notch. :)

Antares Mic Modeler
Does anyone know if this software really works?...I have an SM58...if I get this software, will I be able to replicate the mic quality of a mid-range condenser mic?...or am i better off just buying a condenser mic?...obviously, am operating on a tight budget since I'm just starting out (as you can tell from my incumbent microphone).

Let us talk about macrodynamics
Hi!
Lots of things have been discussed concerning compression, limiting, ducking, expanding, which are terms asociated normally to microdynamics.
So let us discuss a topic that pop music nowadays lacks tremendously: macrodynamics...

Taking care of macrodynamics
Hi!
Lots of things have been discussed concerning compression, limiting, ducking, expanding, which are terms asociated normally to microdynamics.
So let us discuss a topic that pop music nowadays lacks tremendously: macrodynamics...
For example, gain rides...
Classical stuff and so we already know of the nice and sometimes really wild dynamic range/content.

Groove Tubes mics?
I've been eyeing these for a while. Anyone have experience? I really want to find a replacement for my C1 that I can use on guitar and vocals. The GT44 or 33 look good... Fletcher aproves of the GT44 (has meaning in some parts). I haven't heard much about the large diaphrams.

dbx DriveRack Studio - Gimmick?
Looks interesting, but I'm wondering if this is just another gimmick box targeted at home studio folk.
For those of you in the know, what are your thoughts about the dbx DriveRack Studio - gimmick, or something that's got some real utility?
