New Mic!(s)
Hi,
I'm looking to get a new mic for recording guitar, nothing too special just something that does the job for demoing sets and making the odd track.

USB Condenser Mic and Soundcard?
Hi I'm new here so don't be too harsh. I have a USB condenser mic and was wondering if the soundcard on the computer affects the quality of the USB? I tried this mic on a computer and a laptop and both have different qualities. The computer was much better. Laptop could not handle it.

PreSonus Firebox won't remember Mic Boost
We've got a PreSonus Firebox for some super non-technical users to quickly record some audio, then we have scripts that tag it, convert it to mp3, and upload it to a podcast.
All is well, except every time they close the Firebox control panel (such as when they shut down for the evening) they have to go back into the control panel and add the 12db to Mic 1.

My new trick - tube and xsistor preamp on a single voice mic!
My apologies if this is "old hat" for the pros in here. I just wanted to share this for anyone who wants to adapt this to their own home studio.
I am always looking for ways to make new sounds. This trick is nothing more than splitting a mic signal and passing it through both a tube and xsistor preamp and recording in the DAW on two tracks.
So this is what I have done:
A good look-up concerning ST mic pairs, + ribbons
I just did a search w/ the terms "beyer" and "ribbon", looking to get a little more info on the 160/130 pair and its typical pricing.
If you're interested in drum OH selections, ribbon mic selections, or choices regarding sax, flute, violin/fiddle, a ribbon mic shootout, and so much more...

What is the difference between dynamic and condenser microphones?
The terms dynamic and condenser refer to the two most common forms of professional microphones. Could someone explain this for our readers?
Ribbon mic shopping
Hey guys. I've had a Fat Head 2 for a while, but just sold it to my buddy as I wanted to get a stereo pair with the Lundahl transformers instead. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm looking outside of that option at some other ideas, hence I'd like some opinions.

"Best" mic choice for my situation
So I know there's no such thing as a best microphone, but I need to upgrade my setup and this is one weakpoint - my mic.
This mic will mainly be used for gigging but I'd like it to also be good for recording. It's gonna be my vocal mic live, and also I want to use it to record vox on my home demos.
