For those who do not know, I have been involved with High Fidelity sound and equipment since 1972. Our art reflects what designers put into their perspective components for music reproduction of the highest regard. This is why I consider our art serious business.

I figured out that it was not necessarally the equipment, but the recording arts had to evolve.

Found this free mastering software on the web. Anyone know how to use it? Maybe give me a few tips? Thanks.

It's been making it's way into the market place, from what I understand, but I haven't heard anyone talk about it yet- the most anticipated piece of gear to come along in a while, the Really Nice Mic Pre. Anyone have an opinion? Doc.

Has using a DAW resulted in you experiencing more "down time" (i.e. periods when you cannot work due to technology related problems) during the production process?

I'm building a studio at home. Currently I'm trying to decide on whether to get a PC or a Mac. I wanted to know if there is a huge difference between the 2 platforms. The reason I'm asking is that I have a good amount of experience working with PC's (and so does my friend who will probably be my greatest source of tech support) and pretty much none with Macs.

Does anyone have any opinions on the new TDM compressor from Sony?

Hi friends! I am really tired of the metallic sound provided by stuff like the TC MASTER X 5 band TDM plugin . It is really good for heavy sequenced music, but for acoustical stuff like Bossa, samba and so it does some damage to the job.

Gooday gentlemen, I am in desperate need of help, I need a crash course in Logic I already figure out the basic stuff, enviroments, mixer window, midi etc. I need help with more advance functions like sync functions, sample editing, looping, matrix windows etc.
Pls help if you can, I should be able to afford reasonable fees if required.

From watching the threads it is obvious that many are obsessed with frequencies below 60Hz. Why all this interest in deep bass? Most consumer playback systems will do 60Hz. At best with only a rare few that have extension to 40 Hz. Let alone 30. I know it sounds good but to really be able to hear it correctly your room dimensions need to be correct / large.
