Ok, this may sound really weird, but I figured I'd ask you guys and see if any of you had run into this or have any ideas.

I have a PC Intel 2 GHz, 256 RAM, Sonar XL 2.1, Audigy Platinium 2,
Mixer Mackie 1202-VLZ PRO 12 Channel.

I record my sax playing with a background in MP3 that I input to Sonar as a track.

But when I play the song, the sound of the sax is not in sync with the background.

I have a P4 2Gig, 512 RAM, WinXP home system with a Maxtor 7200 drive seperate from my boot drive to which I only store audio.

Does anyone have a rule of thumb for first pan setting at mixdown? I've tried several mic setups XY, ORTF, and Spaced Pair but I'm yet to figure a valid start point. Either I've overlooked the pan start points or it's in none of the reading I've done.

I'm with to computers here at home... my computer have a SB Live and the other one have a Gina...

i plugged the SPDIFs of both cards and they are working ( i can record in sound forge from S/PDIF in both computers )

What is your opinion on Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences. Do you think it is worth it? I have a friend who started there recently and I told him he would be better off money and career wise if he just found an intership here in town and learned that way. He opted for the school. What's your thoughts?
