Ok i'm in a bit of a situation...I'm just finishing tracking with a band and got the call today from their manager that a couple big A&R guys are coming down tomorrow to hear the progress. Totally out of the blue, I mean I haven't even really knocked off rough mixes with some effects and compression going on.

I know who Brendan O'brien is, and Bob Clearmountain,
but who are TLA and CLA and can you provide some
favorite examples of hard rock stuff they have
worked on.

Haven't talked to anyone who's actually tried one of these $5000 beasts. Saw them at AES and it looked interesting. Anyone comments?

I have a PT mix3 and dearly need a console. I like the idea of Neve. I''ve used the VR legend and enjoyed its company but the size or price. I've seen the baby V but have not heard it. Novice mixer, just getting into it. I've messed around and ended up doing things all sorts of different ways, coming to no firm conclusion on what is the best approach.

How would you guys (and gals) approach mixing the average 4 or 5 piece rock band. Do you do, say, do the drum kit first, the vox, etc, and what base level do you start from ?
