Here's the problem: When I mix my instruments together, they lose their individuality. Everything seems to run together and turn into a pile of mush with no clarity or space for each instrument. They all seem to blur together and lose definition.
If I were working with lots of tracks and dense mixes, maybe I could understand. But all I've got is usually:

Well, I am pretty blown away right now! I got the Universal Audio UAD-1 DSP card with their Powered plugins..Amazing! :) They give you a bunch of presets to get started with, and it is actually pretty logical to tweak once you get started...it just looks kinda intimidating at first!

I've recently started using Steinberg's Wavelab.
I want to use it to create samples for my sampler but am having problems understanding the PDF's explanation on how this is done. It's not very clear.
A- I want to set loop points within the samples but am not sure how to set this up step by step.

I was intrigued by the whole "building a studio- literally" thread. I too am looking at building a studio in a rural location, although my situation has some significant differences.

Is anyone familiar with this box? I've heard many good things about it, but finding one seems harder than finding a condom in a convent, y'know? I guess Sony discontinued it when they came out with the DRE-777, is that right? Any info would be appreciated.

I would love some suggestions on a very good analog 24 channel recording mixer.

My goel is to surpass Mackie's imperfections, like bad incerts, pres, EQ, alomost everything about this board I had to bypass.

I've been in the studio a lot with engineer friends and other bands, so ive heard api's, neves, GR, john hardy, and all that. At home i've just been using some Mackie and dbx pres and have never actually recorded with anything good preamp wise.
