fairlight is too good to talk about ;)? Pro Tools Import?
Obviously no one here has problems using a fairlight system! Or are henchman, bill and me the only fairlight users in this forum? Well, as we know that there is no DAW easier to use, better sounding or more effective, maybe this forum should be closed? We can amuse ourselves by looking at the Pro Tools-and-stuff user forums, and relax with a beer ;) ?
Best Chain into PTLE
What is everyone using for Mic/Preamp/Converters into Pro Tools that gives more of that warm analog feeling to the recording? I have a RODE NTK, Avalon 737, and using the Digi001 converters at this time. I've looked at converters by Lucid, Apogee, RME, Waves L2 Ultramaximizer, CRane Song.

Pro Tools HD and Mastering
With the arrival of pro tools HD, I'm wondering in what ways this will change the links between mixing & mastering. Do I send CD-rs of dithered down 16bit 44.1K?, A data CD of the bounce to disk of a 96K session?, my GP9 with it's infinite bit resolution?, a cassette?, etc...

Pro Tools HD - How Does It Sound - Why Can't Julian Get
I have been following threads all over the net regarding the new Pro Tools HD and over and over again Julian keeps asking, yes "But how does it sound?", but no one has given him answer.
So Julian has anyone told you how it sounds yet? If so, could you let us all know. It is one the question I am trying to find out. Does it sound better than the Pro Tools 24?
Take care.
Pro Tools LE without hardware
Does anyone know of a way to run Pro Tools LE on a Ti Powerbook or iBook without having any Digi hardware present? I would like to be able to work on files (edit, mix) while away from my main setup.
I suppose the new Mbox will allow you to do just that. However, it won't be available for awhile yet and I need to get a working setup by Feb 1.

Recording with Nuendo
I can remember starting out with Cakewalk Pro, then moved to a Roland VS 880 , then back to computer based recording with Vegas. Then I saw an add for Nuendo, talked it over with some producer friends of mine and decided to make a go of it. I must say...I LOVE IT! I've used Pro Tools on several occasions and I think Nuendo is a much better software/hardware program hands down!

Delay Compensation for AD8000
I noticed in a recent thread that our erstwhile co-moderator Julien said he'd caluclated the delay compensation factor for his Apogee AD8000SE's at 19 samples. Just last week I asked Apogee what they recommend, since there's nothing in the manual; their tech support says 67 samples from "analog input to digital output" and 114 samples "from analog input to analog output."
