XLR patchbays for mic preamp's?
I just did an upgrade and rearrangement of my studio & am sitting here wondering if anyone uses XLR patchbays for mic preamp's? Is this a common practice or unadvisable from a fidelity standpoint. It certainly would be a hell of a lot more convenient than repatching mic cables all the time.

John Hardy Mic Preamps: Output transformers or not?
I recently hooked up with a nice fella in this forum and bought a 4 ch. John Hardy M-1 from him. I've since learned that these pres can have an output transformer added as an option. First of all, any thoughts in general about what I should expect once I've gotten them. Second, what's the difference in sound with the output transformers?

API Mic Pre's
I am looking into purchasing some API 312's. I am looking at the vintage pre's with the original 2520 op amp and also the new 3124p with the new surface mount technology 2520 op amp. I understand there is a difference in sound between the two. Has anyone a/b'd these? If so what were your findings? How is the top end? Does one have more punch than the other?

Mic Preamps in A&H GL3?
Does anyone know if the Allen & Heath GL3 has the same microphone preamps as the GS3? I like the sound of these (the GS3) myself, they seem to be warmer than the Mackie which is what I've compared it with. I've found the GL3 at a price I can't resist and any opinions would be very welcome.
Regards,
/Henrik

Thoughts on John Hardy Mic Preamps
Anyone have any thoughts or experience with these mic preamps. I live in south Texas, where there is no way for me to be able to listen to high-end mic preamps. I rely on professionals opinions to help me make prudent purchasing decisions. Any input would help.
Thanks Abraham

Fav Mic Preamp for SM-57
I just read another post on what people think of the ever versitle SM-57.
Just out of interest what Preamps are you Pros useing to get the best results out of the 57 and why?
Will you use different Pres for recording a guitar amp and then a Vocalist?
Do you ever choose your on board Pres vs your aresenal of gear?
And lastly, do you choose Tube or Solid State?

Thoughts on M80 Mic Pre
I recently purchased an M80 mic preamp but have not yet received it. What should I expect? this is a used unit with the "Jensen" transformers. Is this a pretty good pre for general purpose. I'm tracking through my D8B right now. Will it be much of an improvement? I also ordered an RME AD8 Pro to use as converters.
Thanks to all Abraham.

TL Audio Indigo 2051 mic preamp
Hello, This is my first post here. Really enjoy what I've seen and read so far. Any one have any experience with this box. I've tried it out with my oo1 and Apogeerosetta and it seems to work wonderfully on bass tracks but haven't had the chance to track vocals or other instruments. :w:

Mic pre
Hi,
Can anyone shed light on what CMRR refers to in reference to mic preamp specs, as in ". .has excellent CMRR. ."
I notice there is a professional body called the Center for Magnetic Recording Research. Could not find any reference to a specification that would make sense when applied to a mic preamp.
Any help would be appreciated.
Peace and thanks,
