Definition of a remix?

hi all,
hope you can help me with an issue of mine...
i'm working on the musical project of mine (not alone) for more than 2 years, an instrumental electronic music project (not trance).
we finished writing the composition and recorded demo versions for all songs, found a good english mixer to work with and we're started to record the master.

Can I expect a complete pop/crackle free recording in my hom

I just acquired a Konnekt24D, it's a serious upgrade for my studio and I thought everything is going to be bronze perfect (?).
my experience in recording is not vast and I am very impressed with the sound quality of this card. but still... every now and then I get a pop or a crackle, I tried a lot of different configurations and nothing seems to eliminate the problem.

Recording drums: mono vs. . stereo

hi i was wondering if u can help a newbie like me in recording drums. my question is I'm looking to make a dance song i know kick drum, bass, snare should be mono when recorded but I'm clueless about toms, hi-hats, and crash cymbals should they be recorded mono or stereo. if I'm right at the final mix down the whole drum kit should be stereo correct me if I'm wrong.

Quality cables

i am establishing a home studio setup following are the equipment setup but what is left is the right and good quality cables for connecting mics to the DAW or monitors to the DAW. what i mean by right leads is that i know that there are xlr's and mono and stereo jack cables but which one go best with my system i want to make sure so please suggest me.

Why am I getting Negitave Peaks?

I am curious to know what actually causes negitave peaks in a waveform. I seem to get heavy negitave peaks when i used a few certain distorted synths. My ears don't seem to be hearing whats causing it. I really like the sound of the synth so am reluctant to change it. I presume these peaks will cause problems to the mastering of the tracks as the wave will look very unbalanced.
