What To Buy?

I have a community band in southern-Indiana. We currently own a Zoom MRS4 but rarely use it because it... mainly because it's very difficult for a non-techie to use and doesn't have much capacity. I've just receive approval to purchase a new digital recorder that has the capacity to burn directly to a CD. I've been looking at a Tascam DPO1-FXCD that was recommended by a local music store.

monitor noise.. room electrical problem?

Hi all. I just recently purchased a pair of Yamaha hs50m's which I'm using in conjunction with my Focusrite saffire firewire audio interface. To make a long story short I was getting some dreadful noise through the monitors. When I unplug the power supply from my laptop and run from battery power, the noise dissapears completely and my entire system is functional.

Help. Sony Forge, Vegas, or Acid?

What is the best to record in my "home studio"? Sony Forge, Vegas, or Acid? I use an Emu 0404 sound card, a Behringer502 xenyx mixer, a Behringer 2 v-amp for bass and guitar, and a Yamaha psr-540 keyboard. I just record like pop punk songs and "hip hop" songs for fun. Right now I am using Vegas. I just want to know what would be best for my purposes.

1968 u87, silver c414eb or other

I went over to a friend's studio that is selling a lot of older microphones. Amongst them was a 1968 u87i, an AKG c414EB (silver), and a Sony c37a. I spent two hours trying these mics along with their Microtech Gefell um92 1.s. (which blew the socks off every microphone there in terms of detail, depth, and high-end openness and gentleness - even the Sony c37a).
