Jazz & rock drum tunings
Forums
Hey guys can you please let me know what the different tunings are for drums (typically) is.
Like for instance, I know a drummer who learned to play in band back in high school. His teacher taught them how to tune to a jazz kit set-up. But now adays he plays mostly metal, and he still uses the same drum tuning he has asways used.

Fixing a guitar - in a major way
Forums
Hi, I know that this isn't really relevant to recording guitar as such - however I know that the pool of knowledge here at RO is ENORMOUS!
I have this guitar (which I'm led to believe is quite rare- however I may be wrong)
BUT, the guy who had it before the guy I bought it off, modded it to sh*t, badly.

Digital Clocks - Which one?
Forums
Okay, so I've decided to take the plunge and try a Lynx Aurora 8. But, for various reasons, I've also decided I need an external clock. (Multiple digital units and I'd rather outsource it all to a dedicated box - plus I'm hearing from a lot of sources that the Aurora benefits from external clocking.)

Anyone hear the Neve Portico yet?
Forums
Has anyone had a chance to listen to the new Portico yet? Thinking of trying it out. Portico 5012. How does it compare to API or Seb or the likes in the same price range? It's going for $1440. How about any mag reviews I can check out. I've only read one on gearslutz comparing it to the langevin, but i'm looking for me.
Thanks.

Oktava MK319...pretty dull!
Forums
I've been using this mic on vocals for about 2 years now, and I can't get a vocal track that doesn't sound like there is a foggy cloud around it. It's a little muffled and dull sounding. No matter what singer or how I change my room.

advice on trim settings
Forums
As I understand it the +4 db "pro" trim level is made for the purpose of driving higher signal level over line level interfaces for the obvious reason that the noise induced in a long connector will be lower by comparison. Makes sense.
