how important is it to have a matched pair of mics for stereo-recording?
i could imagine its important for ms-recording, but for x/y and a/b ?
are the differences so big between two unmatched mics of the same type ?
is it only important for condensers? or even for ribbons and dynamics?

Hey guys think i've decided to get a nice pre or three next. Then I'll do some mic upgrading. My question is if I should get pre only or something with some EQ as well. I'm using an Allen and Heath board to run everything thru (except bass I like my little Meek VC3Q). Most all things I just use the preamp of the A&H and no eq or externall comps/limiters.

Here is the problem, I am transfering 2 songs for a client from ADAT, each song is on 3 ADATS, and tape 1 and 3 trabsfer fine, but, tape 2 is faster, and in the worng key all vocals sound like munchkins.

What are your impressions with the Fantom-s? I hope it is not an Xp80 bundled with an expanded memory S760.. just 64 voice poliphony?

IS Reason nice for PT users? Any bug with PT 5.1.1 or 6.1 TDm?

I'm shopping for a box that will allow me to transfer tracks off my 8-track reel into a software program like Cubase SX or Samplitude (both of which I am demoing) for mixing.

ok i have LE6 and i want to experiment with some sweet drums machines and stuff.probly midi stuff. i dont know.i just wants some killer techish like not realistic sounds but like pro drum machine.
so whats some good programs that use rtas?

Just setting up my own studio for the first time. I need some advice on buying a pre and perhaps compressor. Plan to mic classical guitar and vocals w/ a U87 . Used a Brent Averill before, liked it but a little pricy. The FMR audio RNP looks good but how does it sound? Other ideas? thanks in advance.

Just finished reading the review of Ensoniq's Paris in the latest TapeOp, and am curious if anyone here is using it? They gave it a great review in the magazine. If it truly sounds that good...I'd be interested to take a listen. Any comments on this system? Anyone have any music to listen to that's been recorded on that system?
