This would be an upgrade from my current Mackie 1642VLZ - how are the A&H pres compared to the infamous XDR's?

I'm thinking of venturing into the Blue Grass world a bit. Looking for anyone who has experience recording this style. Any tips would be good. Particularly what mics you like for what instruments and mic placement on said instruments.

I am looking for a couple of new monitors to my mixing room. Have used Mackie HR824 for 1,5 years now but they aint working so good for me, On both mid & low i feel they don't give me the straight sound i would like. To my question: People have said to me that the KRK v6 are good trusty monitors. Does anybody here have any experience on that ?

I own a MOTU 2408 mk 1 and the Hedd 192.
I use DP 3.11.
My question is:
will I be able to record a 24/96 file in my Dp using the onboard SPDIF of the 2408?
If the 96khz doesn't go thru the SPDIF what about the 24 bit?Does it go thru at least?

Is is possible to get a pair of RODE NT2s matched, which were not originaly matched at the factory? In any case, does it really matter to the quality of the recording?

OK...it is time for me to get a new DAW computer. Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford it until the spring when the tax return gets here...

I am thinking about starting to buy some of the components now to help reduce the all-at-once sticker shock come spring.
