Any one catch that Sawyer chick interview Avril Lavigne? My wife called me into the LRoom to check it out. I did for about 5 min. Long enough to see a segment with the president of Arista Records get face time and speak.

I currently get about 45 24 bit tracks with IDE ata100 HDD and logic 5.5.

Will going raid 0 with 2 ata100 IDE's double or increase my track count?
or will I need more drives to achieve this?

Anyway, I've got a friend who will be building his DAW, sometime around March. He posted a rundown of what he's looking at on another forum I frequent. Here goes.

Im using the 001 PC platform.
would I be better off if:

A) using my FMR RNP/RNC (2 pre's), my ART Pro MPA (2pre's), my dbx 376 (1pre), and my 001 (2pres) 7 total pre's for drums (thats all I'll need)... and purchasing the RME ADI 8 Pro $1100.00 to run with my various mic preamp's

I am currently working on my dissertation which aims to discover how DAWs have impacted on commerical music production and how they have changed the way people work and the music that they produce. My research focused solely on computer based DAWs (ie. Nuendo, Protools, Logic, etc). So I am writing this poll to get your opinions.

Our Band just picked up our new Mackie CFX-20 mixing board, so I think that we have all the equipment we need to record. I will be using a Laptop w/ MOTU 828, to record at our rehersal space then I will do all the editing and Mastering at home on my DAW.

As reported by The Register, the RIAA plans to fight P2P(peer to peer) file swapping by infecting mp3 files.

Any suggestions on getting a super tight, heavy guitar sound (ie new deftones, tool, chevelle, etc.)? I have a semipro recording studio so I don't, by far, have all the best gear, but I'm sure it can make the guitars sound pretty good with what I have if I knew what I was doing. My problem has always been too much "shhhhh" and not enough balls/warmth/punch.

Say I want to use a kickpattern to trigger a guitar, so that everytime the kick kicks the guitar sounds.
How do I set that up in a DAW?

Some usefull tips and or links would be very helpfull.
