Any suggestions on a good amp/head combo for studio recording only? I'm looking mainly for something that can produce a good hi-gain heavy sound and a nice, warm rock tone in the same amp. What do you guys/gals use?

i'm running mac OS 9.1. there's 1024 RAM
(4 X 256's). Hard drive that it originally came with, plus an additional 60-gigger (has its own icon) and 80-gig external hard drive (lacie). don't think there's a CD-burner yet (relative neophyte here, eh). i'm moving over everything i know works that i want to keep to the external hard drive.

Just curious what kind of results people are getting from using newer DVD burners to burn Red Book CDs.

Where I'm coming from is: the system I'm putting together will definitely have a DVD burner for archiving purposes. Do I still need to add a low-jitter CD burner like PLEXTOR or Yamaha or will the newer DVD-RAM burners do this task just fine?

I'd like a reasonably good quality harmonization plugin for my Mac (VST). No MAS, TDM, external DSP anything. Just a dual gig G4.

Barring that, I'll take suggestions for hardware, preferably under $500.

I've recently acquired a Hohner PSK60 keyboard from someone who doesn't use it any more and never really knew anything about keyboards to begin with. My problem is that the manual is missing. It's a very basic setup as far as keyboards go (not exactly geared towards professionals) :roll: but I want to know the extent of the MIDI capabilities: ie. Does it only transmit note on/note off?

I was asked to help my friend to build a home studio around his dual athlon comp. I suggested him to buy a really great preamp/compressor for use with computer. It can be either 2 channel or even a single channel unit.

i'm an audio engineering student with a 2000 mac g4 at home, getting more frustrated by the minute. picked up the computer last year off an editor, it has programs that i've been using without much hassle (like final cut pro 2)
