Well, I have embarked on a journey from which there is no return... I am building my own studio desk! Arrrrrggggg... :)

This has turned into a major pain in the ass, but when I finally get it finished, it should be worth it!

I want to record my mix on the computer, my current rig is easy to use, but I feel that the ADDA is the weak link (currently using a Flyng Cow into a DIO2496 SPDIF card and recording the mix in Soundforge 5.0.

Choices I'm pondering are Lucid AD and DA9624 units ($1400 at mercenary) plus a FATSO JR ($2450) for tape emulation. Total this package is $3850.

Question; will the clock on the Tascam Dat-1 (portable) be better than the internal clock on the digi?

I'm looking to build a computer for a home studio. I would like to start with the right motherboard. I currently own a Roland EP70 that I some times plug into my computer using MIDI. The only problem is that if I decide to use a sound that comes with the CW8(cakewalk)I get a delay of about 1.5sec. until the sound comes from the spks.

I like the sound of mixing 8 channels out of my 001 into my 1642 mackie. I like separating 8 channel into analog. Sounds big ! Problem is when I record that fat mix back to hard drive the new 2 channels don't sound that good. How do I get that nice separated/fat sound on final 2 tracks.

OK, so I've been lurking everywhere the last few months and have read basically you want Neve, API, Trident or their modern equivelents for Mic preamps and EQ modules in order to get the most from your mics for tracking.

Now when I'm almost done I've also spent most of my money on DAW-parts and software. But, I need a pair of monitors for my projectstudio at home, and I need some advice here.
