What gear is everybody using to track bass guitar? I'm mostly talking about going direct. What signal path, and gear is everybody using to get the killer bass sound?

Echo has released an updated set of WDM drivers for their cards...version 6.01. Looking at the update list however, there are quite a few upgrades and bug fixes.

I'm looking for a small mixer (8 or so channels) for high-end classical remote recording. Minnimal EQ, few if any sends, and easy to carry around. Any suggestions would be great.
