I saw some comments in another post but they were not coming from someone who actually has one of these unit so I just wanted an opinion from an owner. It would help in my purchase. Its either a Q10 or a Layla 24, but the options on the Q10 are very tempting. XLR, phantom power, direct inputs with pre for guitar etc.

Tech support calls and emails are beginning to come in. This can be challenging -- Soundscape still supports the product that got them started in '93 (who else does that?) so it may take some research on my part to get answers to more obscure questions, but I'm determined to deliver excellent support as always (and besides, I like a challenge!)

Rewiring a friends studio and would like to bring in a patchbay. Having never wired one I'm looking for suggestions from those that might have been through it before. Our gear as of now is:

For the last month we've have had a fare amount of traffic from Sonic Foundry but not one post here from them :( They don't promote their site or contribute here at all. We've had at least 4 main reps register from that company but not one has even made a buzz. Really strange and discouraging.

Ok, what do you guys do to turn that “nice” natural sounding tom, with overtones and everything, into something that would fit right into a Nirvana or STP record?

And let’s not drift off into mic placement, tuning, heads, etc. The drummers gone home and it’s time to mix!

I'm mixing stuff in pro tools and I can never seem to come to a stopping point. Normally after the first mix I'll burn a CD and take it home and come back and fix whatever mistakes I pick up on a bunch of different systems. The only problem is that I keep coming back and doing stuff and overproccess everything and in the end the first rough sounds the best.

I'm looking for a decent pair of headphones to use in combination with monitors for mixing. My current thoughts are Beyerdynamic DT770Pro or the Sennheiser. HD 580. Anyone have a preference?
