I'm an old guy, but my 26-yr-old son plans to attend an "audio engineering" school in New York City. The two he's considering are Institute for Audo Research and the SAE Institute.

He's a college grad and a performing musician. He's also had some recording experience.

Opinionsabout which school provides the better training in this field?

I am head of a music department for a community college where we finally convinced the powers-that-be that a Midi studio/recording Certficate would be a good thing. So now we are ready to assemble a DAW, etc. and need some advice.

I'm having MAJOR problems with my system, hopefully you guys can give me a hand!

Is anyone familiar with any schools in the LA area? I'm looking to move there and go to school to learn about recording and what not. Thanks in advance.

What do you all think about this "advanced mic techniques and theory" forum? Should we merge it with the "tracking and mixing" forum or change the direction of it by renaming it to maybe... "mics and placement"?
