So I took the plunge and bought an iPad this summer. It's an incredible tool and I am teaching in very different (and better) ways as a result. Great music theory apps and score reading apps as well as the ability to mirror my iPad to a projector to display the apps to an entire class really makes teaching a large group much easier.

I have a young friend who has 5 grand and wants to put together gear for recording with 8 ins. he has some sm 57's but needs a cheap condenser. other than that he has no equipment.

am looking for a simple setup for a friend who writes and does some hobby stuff. he has no equipment at all and needs to be able to get 8 tracks simultaneously. he needs monitors, a DAW or pc based recording system, some dynamics and a cheap condensor...just the basics and he has 5 grand to do it. I would help him more, but am in the middle of building a studio and a couple of projects.

Why does my genesis sound so sh*tty? It's really quiet, and things sound very thin and wispy. I'm pretty unhappy, especially after spending about $500 on one. Any tips? Does this mic just suck? Is it a lemon? Does the tube need more time? Any advice would be awesome.

I almost never see x/y used whenever stereo OH's are used on stage. This is from club gigs to stadiums, just curious as to why a spaced pair seems to be the predominating choice? thanks!

It's been a while since I've been on here simply because my browser, Opera, does not work with recording.org. No matter what ISP I use it keeps sending me either back to my own IP address or the IP address of the router.
