Hey, I'm new to this forums, and hope someone can help me:)

I've been trying to record an acoustic guitar some time with Samson G Track (Now I know, not the best choice.) and this S/N ratio was really bad. I mean, there was lots of noise, and I could never get my signal go over (putting it's sensitivity high) -20db without sounding really hissy and noisy.

1. Api pres are sick on aggressive drums, they may not sound great isolated, wait until you get a mix going
2. I was right 6 years ago, SM7B is still awesome on the bottom of a snare through Daking pre
3. Royer 101, yeah it is sick, buy one, now
4. Patchbays are easy if you spend 1 month to think about it, then 6 hours to wire it

If you shop around, you can find gear for really decent prices and if you know what you're looking for, really decent performance as well.

Here is an quick tutorial for engineers wondering how to expand their DAW systems using external hardware. Fab Dupont demonstrates how to insert analog gear using the Dangerous 2-bus. Keep in mind, this can be done with similar summing systems such as the SPL MixDream, SSL and others.

i cant sync 003 with my silverface octopre. its been fine for many years and I just changed the ADAT lightpipe cable to see if that helped. NADA! Everything is set up right in PT and i select the ADAT for the souce clock in PT but it now gives me a "Problem with clock source clock" or something.
