Confusing Setup

Okay, so, we are going to be filming a show.

I will keep the cameras rolling throughout, whilst moving about with them, and will split the clips later on in production.

At the start, before the audience arrive, we will line up all the cameras infront of the stage. There is a mic at the back, and a device plugged into the mic mixing board, which controls the on-stage mics.

Newbie with Starting Gear Questions.

Hi,

Newbie hear and completely new to the home recording world however after never being happy with the rushed time frame and arsehole producers of studio recording I have decided to become somewhat a hermit and study the art of recording.

I am a singer songwriter / multi instrumentalist of an indie / psychedelic / pop / grunge ilk . . however I am not technically minded.

Audio Recorder

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a audio recorder that I can plug into an audio mixing desk? (I'm not sure what type it is - i'll try to find out)
We will be recording live, so it needs to be reliable. Lots of different instruments will be mic'ed up to the mixing desk, and it needs to be able to record what the audience can hear, not the channels that are off, etc.

Thanks!

Control Room Monitoring Senario's ?

I use an analog console in my studio for some tracking and for mix down. When I mix down I have no choice but to go into and A/D to get back into a stereo track in pro tools. I use TC MD3 to master in PT. All good.
The question is ? Do you think the console should always be monitored through the A/D and then to control room monitors via D/A as would be the case during mix down.
