Mackie blackbird/tracktion

Can someone please tell me (who is currently an engineer) what the hours of this job are like? I want to start doing this for money, rather than just recording my friends bands... but I don't want to go crazy working long hours and start hating it.

So I was doing last minute desperate cleaning for imminent inlaws arrival. I finished what I had patience for tonight and popped the shhhhhhcotch and happened to flip through and find USMA band and small ensembles giving a Christmas concert. Those tall Audix booms are in prominent use ALL over.

What is considered the best way to bring audio into the Mackie 1402 VLZ3 mixer from the iMac? This series does not have a USB 2.0 input, so I'm trying to figure out the best set up. I'm going to be bringing pre taped interviews and sounds effects into the mixer and then record in the Zoom H4n. Thanks

Sample from Christmas Choral Concert

I was called in on very short notice to record a weekend's worth of choral music by the Indianapolis Children's Choir - an organization that serves over 3000 kids in central Indiana.

I have a small setup in my spare room comprising of an old HP workstation, MacBook and a couple of instruments including USB drum kit.

My MacBook is on the way out and I don't have the money to replace it at the moment. I do however have access to a few gaming computer spare parts.

My Yamaha hs50 monitors are producing a fuzz noise when my computer is on. The speakers are fine cuz they work when connected to my laptop through a pci express card. They are connected to a Focusrite saffire pro 24. The noise gets louder when i scroll up and down web pages. I have everything plugged into a conditioner.

Thinking about getting a pair for OH. Too much to match with going to tape? I afraid things might be too dull. I have used a sf24 a bunch, but I was recording straight into PT.
