So not really much of a topic, but seriously, can't we just boycott Pro Tools?

I'm looking for a good set of condenser mics for overheads and found a pair of MXL 603s for a good price. Would these work well for drum overheads? Also, they are not a matched pair...should I be concerned?

Okay so I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I want to know when in the heck are we going to see a refresh in interface technology that uses either Firewire 800 or USB 3.0? Both of these have much faster transfer rates than their predecessors, and most quality computers have Firewire 800 and I believe USB 3.0 is becoming more common place.

I'm currently recording a dry signal (monitoring the sound with Revalver or some other amp sim) thru an m-audio project mix i/o which I believe has solid state preamps.

I then send that to my engineer and he does the reamping thing thru a Triple Rectifier. It sounds great.

what should I be using for a Fostex B16 and Tascam 48? ebay has so many weird options I dont know what to get.

I've recently picked up a Countryman Type 85 active DI and I was searching as to whether or not you could run a guitar with active pickups into the front considering it doesn't have a pad, and I found a page saying that you shouldn't leave the instrument plugged into the input while the unit is running on phantom power. Why do you think that is?

this is my first official post and i am completely new to recording but i do have some gear and i enjoy it extremely. its just a hobby.
i bought the mxl 990/991 combo and the Shure pg42 condenser mic.
i was wondering if i wasted my money on it, or ist good enough to get decent sound out of it..

I'm thinking of buying one of these 7720's for my mix bus but it only has XLR's in/out.
my zed r16 has 1/4 TRS inserts.
