Your Kick Drum Micing Techniques!
Forums
Has anyone ever tried putting a heavy weight inside a kick drum (on a pillow) before? I was assisting on a session where a very reputable engineer/producer did this. He said the weight lowers the resonance of the drum and essentially makes the kick sound more tight. The weight also acted as a flat surface to place a Beta 91 inside of the kick.

Help me! Scripts.
Forums
Hello everyone,
I have a problem when I record vocals and voice overs and it's where the talent places the script.
Mainly I get paper to record with and some talent wear glasses and have to have the script like 10 inches from their face which is death on early reflections.

Use Stompbox as Rack FX Send Unit?
Forums
OK, so here is the situation, you have a pedal with a certain echo effect that you use for a particular song right? But, according to Slipperman, you should process time based effects like echo AFTER you have recorded the tone. Is it possible to send the recorded amped tone out through a reamp box then through the pedal in question with the 'magic settings'?

Which one do you perfer? Modded MXL V67 vs AT4033 (wav samples)
Forums
I did this little shootout the other day to see which one I liked better on my vocal. To me, it's not so clear cut. There are things I like about both of them. There is one I'm leaning toward, but I would really appreciate some input from anyone. Both were recorded on the same take, and aside from an 80hz high pass filter, there is absolutely no eq on either.
Help Diagnose Mud in Guitar Tone (Metal)
Forums
Not really part of a composition, but a buddy of mine said that he thought these tracks sounded 'hollow'. I personally think they sound more along the lines of 'muddy'. I'm not sure though, let me know what you think. You will hear three sections of double tracked guitars with slightly different tones.

Simulate Pot Load Using DPDT?
Forums
A friend of mine wants to build a guitar with one pickup and no knobs at all and I told him that pickups don't produce current without a load present. This got me thinking though, he could simulate a resistive load using a DPDT switch to activate the load full on/full off couldn't he?
Using this as a diagram:
