Hi. Next week I have a session booked next week where I (may) have to record an acoustic bass. I have plenty experience in acoustic guitar miking, but was wondering if anyone could offer me advice on placement, and mic selection, this being a very different beast. The guitar has a pickup, but would want to capture some of the guitar body sound as well as the direct sound.

here's the deal. Just joined a surf guitar band, i have recently restrung a strat style guitar but the tremelo bridge is sitting flush against the body so i can only bend down (!) but not up !

Is there an easy way to solve the impedance problem you face if wanting to put parts of your mix through guitar stomp boxes? Is it OK to just use balanced -> unbalanced cables, or is there more to it than that?

I was wondering what the standard db level to record at was and whether it varies with bit rate and sample frequency? I've always tried to record at the highest level possible with out any distortion (around -6db); but i just read an article stating that at 24/192 it's best to have you recording peak at -12db Any ideas?

i have an acoustic electric guitar.. B-Band UST pickup (under the saddle). .and it goes thru an ibanez preamp to the jack of the guitar.
When i plug a cable into it.. the sound is very low. Even when volume is all the way up on the guitar, and on an amp. The noise gets real loud..but the sound of the guitar is very weak. Any suggestions?

I HAVE XP AND I'M TRYING TO FIND DRIVERS FOR KORG 1212, I FOUND DRIVERS AT KORG, BUT FOR SOME REASON, IT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DRIVERS, IT JUST STATES, "NO CARD FOUND". CAN ANYONE, WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM, TELL ME HOW YOU CORRECTED THIS SITUATION.

What it the best Mic and Preamp I can buy that can get the job done when it comes to vocals? My friend is really interested in rapping and having clean vocals are very important. The problem is my budget is $200 total. I would really like to hear these items in action.
