Ive currently got a pair of Yamaha BR15's for mains, and a Crown XLS 202d amp. The speakers are rated at 200/400/800w, and the amp is rated at 330W/ch @ 2 ohms, 300W/ch @ 4 ohms, 200W/ch @ 8 ohms, 660W bridged mono @ 4 ohms, 600W bridged mono @ 8 ohms.

I'm only tracking, not mixing or mastering involved, mostly minimalist recordings with just few mics, sometimes just one mic for each instrument including drums.

I would like to slightly improve tracking.

Ok so I have a decent new laptop running Vista. I need a good multitrack recording program for cheap so I can record my own songs/demos. Nothing fancy, just something that I can add some harmonies, or some extra instruments to my guitar and vocal tracks.

I have the Behringer Truth B2031A powered-monitor.
I use it to mix recordings my friends and I make in my home project studio.
I don't feel that I overuse or misuse it, but apparently I am.

Long ago, I read something to the effect that recording and mixing in the same room is not good due to a build up of the same room modes or resonances. Is this accurate? Is there an inherent problem tracking and mixing in the same room?

After trawling the net to find a suitable daw computer I have come across a number of so called specialist daw computers at 3 times the price of a normal computer.

I have studied some aspects i.e. silent factors and what I need for proccessing speed and power etc.

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to get the thick lead guitar sound of jazz guitar that you hear on recorded music like smooth jazz songs.

Can someone tell me what kind of gear I need to get that sound. Below is what I have but can't get the sound I want. Can someone advice me and let me know if I can use my gear. Thanks.

I use FL, Ableton, Reason and logic, I have a basic home studio and am lookin for some basic midi pad controllers, I was looking at these three, please tell me which would be the best or if you know any other good ones in this price range, And i know that in this prices range nothing is tooo good, but its all i can aford.

I've had a home recording studio for the last three years. I'm using a fast/powerful computer built by ADK Pro Audio. I use a Blue - Blueberry microphone, usually for vocals and acoustic guitar. I have two PreSonus FirePod interfaces and a PreSonus Eureka preamp. I use Cubase 4. I have a tri-screen monitor setup. I use two Mackie HR624's as my reference monitors.
