I plan on purchasing a Shure SM7B for hip hop vocals, and I also plan on purchasing the Mbox 2 with Pro Tools to accompany it in recording. I've heard about problems with using the SM7 with an interface/pre that doesn't have enough gain to handle it, so I was just curious if the Mbox 2 will work well to get solid, clean recordings with the SM7.

I'm looking for a somewhat specific A/D/A converter of comparable quality to the fireface. Are there any 192khz sample rate converters out there that have between 10-20 line inputs, and no mic preamps? I can't seem to find any that have exactly what I'm looking for. I might just opt for a fireface 400 and a multiface...

I am buying a new computer which will be used exclusively for recording and I have narrowed it down to the 2.4 ghz, 15" macbook pro or the 2.4 ghz, 24" iMac. I already have a gateway laptop so portability isn't really an issue, but it would be nice. Which is the better machine? I am using logic 8 and wondering which computer will run it with the least latency.

I have a gig (almost) booked to record a good, but smallish choir in a large concert hall. It will be 25-30 adult voices - SABT. This will be my first recording in a "big-boy" venue. It is a closed session, so the hall will be essentially empty.

I want to record my music and I'm not sure what is good to record on. Audacity blows and i cant find anything else. Plus i dont have a recording interface, I'm going straight through my microphone slot ( Guitar -> Preamp -> Amp -> Computer )

hey all,i just ordered a new computer today. Dell XPS 420.And with the comp,i upgraded to the bose companion 3 series speakers.

Has anyone had any experience with the Jeff Dakin preamps?
I hear some good things about them but wondered if there was any first hand experience out there.
