get it on the computer

Well I'm really bad with all this stuff, I don't even really know what I need, okay well all I really want to do is be able to have high quality sound and songs and be able to get it on the computer, I don't really need studio quality but I want quality you can't get from a headset mic or a video camera, so basically decent quality...

does firewire cable length affect anything

I connect my PreSonus firepod to my powerbook via firewire, of course. The way my desk is setup though, it's a bit of an inconvenience with the firewire cord only being about 3 feet long. Just wondering, if i went up to an 8 foot or so firewire cable, will i experience any negative side effects?

snare drum troubles.(overheads make up for bad snare sound?)

it seems the majority of my snare recordings are junk. heh. ive been recording the same snare for the past 3 years, well the same kit for that matter... just got new cymbals last year though.. but anyways.. its a 14 x 6.5 ludwig supraphonic. it sounds real awesome live, and ive spent lots of time tuning, and always upkeep on that stuff... so i know it sounds good in person at least.

problem recording with PreSonus firestudio project, stops...

Ok, we are trying to record clips of our band live with this

anyway we were trying to test it at home running keyboard lines to it (4, but weve had the same problem with 8 or 1 or whatever).

Whenever we try to record anything with it, it records for a few seconds (usually 2-12) and then it stops recording. then the bar continues (but it does not resume recording).

digi 002r help

so i got a PreSonus firestudio and not a big fan of cuebase compared to PT so i have a digi002r on its way to my house wondering if the firestudio will be compatible to link with the 002r or am i going to have to get another pre-amp. ive been looking at getting rid of the firestudio and i think i still got my firepod layin around and getting the MOTU 8-pre and running that with the 002r
