Well to make this quick, I need to get an external harddrive for recording, and Pro Tools doesn't support USB 2.0 drives so i'm stuck getting a firewire drive BUT, I don't have firewire on my computer, just an empty slot.

bit new to live mixing so any help here would be appreciated...i have a 2 channel 31 band EQ and all of my front of house is in mono. Can I use channel A on my EQ for my front of house and use channel B for my foldback (monitors)? Will it work? Is it stupid? Is there any reason why I have to use both channels for front of house?

I'm in the market for my first pair of studio monitors and I have been reading some previous threads/doing a bit of research and have decided to post my experience so far/discuss some of what I'm thinking about.

I am a songwriter mainly,..and am looking at getting a digital recorder along with a Dr. Rhythm drum machine.

Let me state that I dont care from puter recording..the more I can stay away fromt he puter the better for me.

I'll be getting a pair in for trial - they should be here this Friday morning. Over the weekend, I've got a pipe organ recording and a wind ensemble (concert band) to try them out on. I'll also try them on drum overheads and acoustic guitar. If I can and have the time free, I'll try to post some clips.

I'm looking to record my guitar. could someone give me a suggestion on a cheap and easy way to record my guitar (onto my computer) so i dont lose where i am.
i have a line 6 spider 3 head and is has a record out, so is there a program i could just record my guitar onto?

My band has a few songs with tompo changes in them. If I try to use the click in Cubase I can only use one tempo. Is there any way around this? I would like to have the whole song timed with Cubase for efects but it dosent seem possible. Anyone got an idea of how to do this with the least headache. Im sure I not the only one with this issue. Thanks!

I put down some vocals yesterday at a friends studio using a PPA "2ube" (I believe) and was surprised at how good and transparent it sounded. Though, I think he swapped out the tube it was still quite nice. So I went out to do a little research and can't seem to find that one on their site, but I do see the LD-3 which appears to be the same thing (in being a tube condenser mic).

I have a firepod that I rushed out and bought (wish I would have waited) but I am not using because of Cubase. Cubase is a little more complicated that I had hoped and was a little dissappointed when I could use Audacity with the firepod. I understand why I cant use Audacity, but will the program Kristal work with the firepod?

I am looking to find some not-to-expensive equipment for playing music at a school. I am not sure how big the room is going to be, but I think 2 speakers would cover it. There is going to be a guitar, piano, and maybe drums. Basically I am looking for something that is portable and can easily be moved around.
