I was watching the metallica documentry some kind of monster a few weeks ago... n there was a part where they were recording vocals...

it appeared as though the tracks tempo was significantly slowed down whilst the vocals were being recorded... just curious if anyone has recorded vocals this way before? also would anyone know why it would help?

I have looked through several topics in this forum and found many helpful tips, suggestions and guidelines. So far I have followed some basic steps but I am afraid I need a little guidance from experienced or knowledgeable users.

i downloaded a lot of akapellas and i noticed that ALL vocals are distorted in the hifieldfreq.i said i need a tube preamp since i have a Neumann u87ai and AKG solidtube i said that the preamp is actually bad.i bought SPL GAINSTATION 1 a solidstate and tube preamp..the Neumann sounds a lot better in this but again..too clean.

OK, here is my situation...I am running sound at a 500-600 capacity club in my area and this is my first experience in actually building and installing a setup in a venue. I have worked and assisted before in much larger venues with their house systems but never have I been solely responsible for setting up, installing, purchasing, maintaining, and running the whole thing.

I currently bought a Tascam us-122 interface...A MXL 990 Condenser Microphone with Shockmount and i have a pop filter. .Sony sound forge,Cubase LE and cool edit pro. .but everytime i record it sounds awful idk but my voice sounds wierd and stuff.

I know it's basic, but i dont know any better, so if someone could teach me of the studio way, i would very much appreciate it.

I just want to get the best sound from my vocal possible.

I dont know if I'm on the right track because every vocal track i record i tend to remove breaths. is it a good practice? please advice.

Well, I'm sick of waiting for a band to come together, so I think I'm going to rely on some tracks in the meantime. What I was thinking about is getting the 1u rack mixer Rolls RM65, an effects processor probably a Lexicon MX200 or maybe a Digitech GNX4, and possibly a JBL EON G2 15".
