vocal mixing for boomy/chesty voice
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a prog-rock project right now where I'm mixing a singer with a voice which sounds like a cross between Roger Waters and Robbie Robertson. Very bassy and chesty. No matter what I do it sounds to bassy. Besides using a HP filter at 80Hz, What other frequencies are generally troublsome for a soft vocal?

present vocals
More often than not I end up carving 120-180, bump 1.5-3 and add a little air 12khz and up.
What other tried and true or even really weird ways do you guys mix vocals to get them present ?

How do I get rid of that "air" sound on vocals
Ok so, there are certain songs I've done that have that "Air" sound on the vocals. What I mean is I can hear air sounding noise when my vocalist isn't singing. Im trying to eliminate this from the final mix without sacrificing the sound of her vocals. I can eq it but then its getting rid of some of what I want. Is there a trick around this ?
Bussing REVERB: Do i keep vocals separate ?
should i bus my vocals to a separate reverb ? should i keep the synths and vocals on different reverb buses ?
