Langevin DVC vs. . ISA 220 vs. . Millennia STT-1 for Live Vocals
I am looking for front end unit for live vocals. My plan is to either use a Focusrite ISA 220, Langevin DVC or a Millennia STT-1 running to a BSS Aduio DPR 901 II and then into an Eventide Orville for effects.
The unit will be a front end for a male vocal that can get rather high and shrill and tends to be somewhat chaotic/versatile (that is the reason for the DPR).
Best way to record Acoustic Guitar and Vocals
I know a similar post was made earlier in one of these forums, but I am curious to see what you all think is the best combination of mics and pres for a folky/early dylan (63-65) kind of vibe for recordings. The instruments being used are Harmonica, Acoustic Guitar and Voice. It would be preferred for all 3 to be recorded simultaneously (as all are played by the artist).

Vocal compression - does quality matter?
As a trained singer I do my best to sing at right kind of levels and have studied and practiced mic technique. I've been trying to find out more about the recording process and was suprised to be told by one engineer that the quality of the vocal compressor isn't that important. In my recording experience, engineers always seemed to save one of their best compressors for vocals.

Making Two Harmonizing Vocals Sound like One?
A promenient example of what I'm trying to achieve is Hoobastank's "The Reason." I know there are two vocals there harmonizing, but it sounds like two identical tracks exept one track is pitched to harmonize. It doesn't sound like the lead sang it twice--the two vocals are too similar!
A PERFECT CIRCLES VOCALS
On the last APC album does nayone know what the vocal chain looked like? The reason I ask I have a band coming in in two weeks that is very influenced by Tool and APC they asked me to get the vocal sound Maynard had on Nurse for one of their songs.
I could use a hand here guys. 8)

Recording vocals & guitar simultaneously
Hi all,
I am trying to record vocals and acoustic guitar simultaneously, using only two microphones and two-track recording and still get a good stereo result (for musical reasons, I much prefer to play and sing at the same time, rather than do each separately).

Giving stereo expansion to vocal tracks
I'm recording a band and I would like to add a little more "fatteness" for the vocals in order to give a more stereo spaced impression. I tried to put the vocals on 2 tracks, pan towards Left and Right each and then I tried some delay from 1 to 30 ms between the two tracks. The result was like adding a chorus effect.
