WHAT DO I NEED TO RECORD GOOD VOCALS?

I HAVE BEEN MAKING RAP COMPOSITIONS FOR SOME TIME NOW AND DECIDED TO MAKE A SIMPLE HOME STUDIO. I AM KNEW TO RECORDING AND WAS INTERESTED IN RECORDING THE BEST QUALITY VOCALS POSSIBLE AT HOME . THE EQUIPMENT I CURRENTLY HAVE IS AN MXL V63M CONDENSER STUDIO Mic W/SHOCKMOUNT ,Mic STAND AND POP FILTER . MAGIX MUSIC MAKER SOFTWARE ON MY COMPUTER AND A Tascam US-122

mixing vocals

I've noticed that a lot of rap music (and I realize it's probably across the board), the vocals are commonly mixed such that they are very up front, with the kick and snare just punching through the vocals. the rest of the music is just behind the vocals - from a balance perspective.

Good all-around preamp for Guitar/Vocals

Hi all. I just wanted some opinions on what pre(s) to look at...
I want to buy one nice pre mainly for electic guitar and male rock vocals. I'd like to keep it around $1500, but cheaper is always better (duh). I'm going to be recording alt/rock/prog directly to a DAW using a MOTU running at 96k and 24bit. A little color would be nice I think...

mixing a lead vocal

I'm new to the forum and I am really impressed with the knowledge, experience and professionalism of this bunch. I have a question on mixing a lead vocal. I'm recording a rock band and have a decent working mix in progress with all instrumentation complete. Now I have the vocals recorded and I am running into a problem getting them to sit right in the mix.
