Drums are too loud in church setting

Due to complains of the drums being too loud in our church, we are looking into some level reducing options. Currently we have a nice old Gretch Catalina kit which most of the drummers speak fondly of. The sanctuary is about 50' wide by 100' long about 30' high at the peak, typical New England modern construction.

Bad to sing into a corner?

A few noob questions about booth setup:

Is it bad to setup a vocal booth and then setup the mic so u're singing into the corner (at a 45 degree angle)? Should the singer be facing one of the walls?

Are some acoustic foams better for sound control in vocal booths (for vocal frequencies) than others? I get confused looking at pyramids, wedges, tiles, etc..

dealing with pipes in the basement studio

alright...you guys have never failed me before with your acoustical abilities. So here is what I am dealing with. my project studio is in my basement. The isolation room - is all concrete but there are a few spots where pipes come through the concrete and there are spaces that allow sound to travel from the laundry room in to the iso room.

why do these drums sound like crap Part 2

ok update. i lowered the OH's closed to the set, tuned down the kick, put the sm57 under the snare til i get another one to go on top and bottom. .

also, added compression, EQ, some limiting and slight reverb...

tell me what you think..any improvement from the clip from the other day...anything sound really good/bad?
