A/D D/A converters 192,Apogee,Lynx Aurora?

I need eight more IOs for my PT HD rig. I currently have a Digidesign 192 that is connected to a Dangerous 2-Bus summing mixer. The summing mixer has eight additional inputs that I would like to utilize. I'm wandering if I should go for another 192, or go with Apogee, or Lynx Aurora. The top of my budget is around $3300.

Apogeetrak2

Hi, first time poster here. I am about to purchase an Apogeetrak2 for about 1150US. it comes with the 8channel DA out and ADAT and midi cards. from what i understand this is an amazing deal.

I am setting up my mini "studio" for the first time, and this is the first serious piece of gear i purchase (I originally worked out of a laptop with an echo indigo io).

Apogee Ensemble Converters compared to Rosetta 800

Hey Fellow Audio Geeks!

Thought some of you may be interested in the comparison of Apogees' new Ensemble to the Rosetta.

I A/B's the two with the same track using Digital Performer sending the two tracks one to the Ensemble and one to the Rosetta. I used Mutt Langs' mix of his wife's song 'She's Not Just a Pretty Face'.

Pro Tools and Apogee Interfacing

I'm putting together an HD system and I want to use Apogeeconverters, specifically two AD16x's and one DA16x.

I believe I need the optional HD cards for the DA16x's for direct connectivity to the 192's.

I'm just a little confused on how they connect to the 192. As I believe I need 2 Digital 192's i/o boxes, one for the 32-DA in, and one for the 16-AD out.

Is this a justified converter upgrade? Emu to Apogee .

Quick overview of my setup:

Mics:
AKG 451-EB mics with CK1 caps (this is the best sound for me. I've tried nearly all versions of Neumanns, KM84, KM184, U89, Schoeps, etc.. nearly all high end mics and the vintage pair of AKG's are basically silky brightness, exactly what I need)

PREAMP:
Hamptone JFET

Anyone running an Apogeeensemble with logic?

I was all set to go with a digi 002 setup until someone kindly expressed I might be better off overall looking into an Apogeeensemble with logic pro

i'm running on a powerbook and this setup is optimized for macs, and apparently will not tie up the cpu anywhere as much as much as pro tools will

oh, and that Apogee converters are supposed to be some of the best on the market.
