I run Pro Tools 8 on a G5 Mac (leopard 10.5.8) basically for tracking, editing and other low cpu demanding stuff.
Recording through an Apogee MiniMe going to the Digi Interface via SPDIF.

I'd like to use some outboard Pres etc on already recorded tracks.
So. I need better D/A conversion than what my 002R or Mbox Pro 2 offer.

I was wondering what cables i should use to hook up the studio monitors to the Apogee Duet... Balanced or Unbalanced?

The duet has unbalanced TRS outputs and the studio monitors have balanced TRS inputs and balanced XLR inputs.

Does it even matter or can it "HURT" anything?

Hello, i just recently bought the Apogee One.
I know its not the most expensive gear out there to record, but thats what i could afford. And now I'm wondering what sort of instruments are best to record with that built-in mic.

I don't want to blow it up by recording a big guitar amp.

Any one who was tried that interface?

Man, I hate to dive into a new converter right now because I have a feeling something new is coming. I've been holding off on investing but its coming down to the wire for me.

so what up with this duet from Apogee? is it really all its cracked up to be ? I'm looking for an upgrade from my m-audio mobile pre usb interface . $500 dollers is pushing my budget but ill pay it if there isn't anything else i can get for cheaper with equal amount of quality . or maybe there something better for that price range ? what do you guys think ?

I've recently had the opportunity to purchase both an Mbox 2 Pro and an Apogee Duet and Logic Studio. I wasn't sure what to use, so I bought both because they were good deals, and I plan to sell what I don't use. Everything should be arriving at the end of this month.

I am looking for an unbiased opinion from people who have used the Apogee Duet firewire interface.

What are the goods? what are the bads?

Here is a recording I did last night, I tried DPA's HMA5000 directly into the FF800, then I tried to run Apogee MiniMP and then MiniMe thru HMA5000 which was set to 0dB. Microphones is DPA 4003.
