There was an article I read reguarding Solid State Logic getting into the low to mid level segment of the recording market. Is this true? The article was about them putting out a 1U channel strip that was taken from there world class high-end consoles. There's different versions w/ compression or without & other combinations. Has anyone come across this yet?

Whos the best, or who has the best pre.amp, the best compressor or the best EQ.

Hey guys think i've decided to get a nice pre or three next. Then I'll do some mic upgrading. My question is if I should get pre only or something with some EQ as well. I'm using an Allen and Heath board to run everything thru (except bass I like my little Meek VC3Q). Most all things I just use the preamp of the A&H and no eq or externall comps/limiters.

Watts up pro audio quoted me at almost $1800 for the thorax. I thought Sebatron was supposed to be quality gear that simple home studio owners could afford. This price is closer to all the other channel strips out there. ie. Avalon, Universal Audio, Focusrite etc. What makes this as good or better than the rest.

I'm looking for a mic preamp / compressor with character and the UA 6176 looks good. I have an LA audio VP-1 (British) which has valve or solid state mike pre and fab EQ but the compressor stinks, (as does the expander). Problem is it doesn't really warm the sound when pushed but goes straight to awfull distortion.
I read the negative comments re the Avalon 737 with great interest.

Is the compressor actually useable on things other than vocals unlike in 737?

I have a chance to pick up a couple trident series 70 channels strips, full strips but,.. Ill have to have them racked. cost will be around $400.00 for pair before racking. Good Deal or stay away.how much can I expect to spend for racking, any suggestions on some one who is good. thanks to all.
