Watts up pro audio quoted me at almost $1800 for the thorax. I thought Sebatron was supposed to be quality gear that simple home studio owners could afford. This price is closer to all the other channel strips out there. ie. Avalon, Universal Audio, Focusrite etc. What makes this as good or better than the rest. This is a company that no one has ever heard of and though great things are being said about them, the compliments all seem to come from people who have a vested interest in this company doing well, such as this website.

…well for starters that’s not the recommended retail
so I don’t know where ‘watts up’ got that figure from.
My estimate for THORAX retail is around $1695
( .. like I had said in a previous post…)

Let’s look at the ‘known’ alternatives:
Avalon channel strip VT-737 sp …..List price $2295
Universal Audio 6176 ……..$2495
Focusrite ISA 220 ….. $1995

I’m not sure if they feature 108 recallable E.Q settings but the THORAX does.
…and I’m not sure if they feature variable COULOR ( 6 settings )
and PAD ( 3 settings ) …. THORAX does.

Interesting post for your first post Mr.Hackett. :D

Take it from me ,
1/ THORAX won’t exceed $1695 USD in price
( … for at least the next six months …. )

2/ SEBATRON audio , for the remainder of the year at least , will still be a relatively ‘unknown ‘ in this big world of mass advertising budgets and marketing strategies.
We are developing and prototyping new equipment all the time.
I couldn’t care less about the fools who buy because of a glitzy photo or fancy BS wording in a stupid commercial magazine… it’s their loss.
I know what sound I’m chasing and it’s not available in current ‘Big Mac’ psuedo valve preamp that are being mass manufactured at the moment.

I couldn’t careless about being a ‘known’ … all that matters is music.

…and of course my clients who believe and understand what I’m doing …..
I strive for them to be happy , … send the unit back if you aren’t.

I’ve written it down here in all honesty…. You couldn’t get anything more direct.

Imagine this:
‘Hello Mr.Focusrite… how are you today?’
‘..could you tweek my ISA for a little more gain?’
:w:

hackett6 , if you never made this a poll I'd buy into your flamer a bit more but... sounds like your here to roast more than read the group news about how awesome the tube gears is. 1'st post on RO with this topic and a poll, ;)

Since Seb was cool enough to answer, I'd say we have this one finished.
