Here is a noobie ?. I have a Gateway Core 2 Duo Laptop, and I've been reading all of the stuff about needing 2 computers/harddrives, and was hoping someone could give me some pointers about getting this HP Pavilion 734 desktop, that I pulled out of the garage hooked up correctly, and were to put what as far as software, DAW, etc, and what to use each unit for. I don't have much so far.

So I'm trying to put my old Pro Tools HD system in a new computer and the PCI card slots are different. I was wondering if there was any sort of adaptor or work around to get the cards to work in the newer mac. The computers are-
Power Mac G4 trying to put the Pro Tools system into a PowerMac G5 quad.

I have a gaming machine/audio machine and I'm finally putting down some money for a Mac Pro (as my dedicated DAW) and keeping my PC as a gaming/internet build.

I'm looking for a reliable KVM switch (a switch that allows me to have one monitor display, yet have 2 computers hooked up to it simultaneous so I can switch back and forth but leave them both on).

I'm considering purchasing one of their rackmount DAWs, and the price/specs ratio seems pretty good. Never heard of the brand before, and was wondering if they're reputable.

Is there any good stock computer that is good for handling large recordings (up to 48 tracks with vst plugins) or is building a computer your best bet?

I run Sonar, and I also have BFD. The two running together use up a lot of CPU. Does anyone know a way to hook two computers together, to have Sonar run on one, and BFD on the other, but synchronized so there's no latency? Thanks!

I'm considering stripping down my current pc for strictly recording applications. I'd like to remove all programs/ user files that are unnecessary. Internet/e-mail, pics, games, various media players(and the loads of background processes that bug the heck out me) downloaded music, PORN, Anti-virus/firewall crap. .

I want to by a new computer that I can use solely for music production. I will be running Samplitude Pro (version 9) and I will be recording songs comprising just acoustic guitar and voice. I have a Focusrite Saffire LE audio interface.

When I recorded a speech from computer A and played it on computer B the sound was totally distorted. The pitch of a female voice was much lower on computer B and the speed was lower too. But the same wav file is totally normal on Computer A. What could have gone wrong? Thanks!
