We have recorded our album using a Pro Tools Mix+ system w/ a Lucid ADA8824 & Digi 24 bit ADAT brg, a Mackie 8 bus, (2) FATSO's for tracks, and a VariMu on Vocals w/ a U87 mic. As we are doing hip hop/R&B we did not use any acoustic instruments. We ran all the tracks through the FATSO's in a few passes & recorded the vocals with the U87.

Hi everybody, hope your mixes have been all that lately. Nowadays, it seems I often find myself mixing projects tracked on the cheap elsewhere (sometimes without an engineer) and they are given to me as PT sessions on hard drives needing a real good round of polishing.

In a couple of months, I will begin tracking for a follow-up album that I have been hired to produce/engineer for an independent label. I am a Pro Tools guy (yes), and own a modest studio, with several decent mic preamps, good A/D conversion, etc. These days, I've been mixing inside PT, and it is working well for me.

Wanted to share something that worked really well for me the other night.

The "producer" and I sat down a few weeks back to do things like setting tempos and prepping all the song files for recording. We also laid down scratch tracks (vox, rhythm guitar, bass) to the click so's the drummer had something to help him follow along.

I've been thinking about this combo for my new DAW:

Hey Nate! A friend has a DAW and uses emagics, he has midi capability and sounds. His problem, he has a bass drum Wavestrack that he can't use, some distortion (clipping I expect), renders it useless to mix. He wants to trigger a midi bass drum track, useing the BD wave track as the trigger. What plugin , or set-up within his DAW would he use to accomplish this. Any ideas?

So I was asked to bring my Delta 1010 based DAW to record a matrix mix of a show this weekend (stereo soundboard +stereo mics)

Ok so Ive been checking some things out and have goten myself totaly confused. :confused:
I am not finacialy ready to put together a top of the line system so some comprimises will have to be made. Im confident that I can plugg everything in fine and get the OS installed etc. It's just the component types/buzzwords etc.
