Tascam FW-1804 vs. . Digidesign Digi 002 Rack
Im goin to sell my Fostex vf-160ex and I'm looking at what my options are for computer recording. I made the mistake of buying a stand alone unit rather than something a little more idealistic for long term recording. My plans were to hook a Berihger ultragain-8000 lightpipe up to it so i would have 8 channels there and the 4 in the back.

Quick Digi 002 question
say I was close Micing drums, and had a total of 8 mics including over heads. How would I record that with an 002 since it only has 4 inputs?

Is the Digidesign 002r firewire port 800 meg or 400 meg
Does the Digidesign 002 support 800 meg firewire connections or just the
older 400 meg standard?
Thanks,
MWP
Digidesign 002r advice
I have been recording several years. I presently have 2 Fostex D90's, ART Dual MP preamps, Roland SRV2000, and Studio Master 16 channel console. Myself and the bands I have recorded have been very happy with the recording results. I am looking at upgrading to a Digidesign 002r and Pro Tools Le7.0 and MAC PowerPC dual G5.

recording guitar with pro tools 002 rack
I'm building my studio around a Digidesign 002 pro tools rack, currently I have tried Micing my marshall avt150 with two mics, a Shure SM57 and an SM58 with some reverb on the amp, with it set on the second overdrive channel to get some majorly rocking distortion and routing each channel in pro tools via a bus with compression and delay plugins, then mixing the two mic inputs.

MOTU 896HD or Digi 002R
So I'm basically looking to purchase something for my home studio and thus far it seems like the 896 and 002R are in the area of what I want (both in terms of features and cost). I've been looking at the 002R for a long time now, but I just started looking at some of the MOTU stuff and it looks awesome.

Extra Processing power for mbox, 002 etc
Wassup everyone? I use mbox1 to record death metal and black metal so it gets real loud and insane. I need more processing power, I cant record anything loud or it gives me that damn error "Drive cannot get audio fast enough blah blah blah". I have almost smashed my computer because of this message a few times and I'm so sick of it.

M-Audio Firewire 1814 vs. . Digi 002r using Pro Tools
Hello all,
I am currently considering purchasing either the 1814 or the 002r and using M-Powered PT or PT LE respectively. I am wondering if anyone here might know of limitations or drawbacks to M-Powered PT (I heard it was exactly the same as LE).
